Head of Marketing & Communications

 

Main Objective

The purpose of this role is to build and maintain the public and media relations of Mercedes-Benz Cars Middle East. Strengthening and promoting the relationships between Mercedes-Benz and key automotive and non-automotive regional media through a variety of Public Relations programs is at the core of this function. Further, this role includes coordination between Mercedes-Benz HQ, the local General Distributors, as well as cross-functional teams and partnering departments at Mercedes-Benz Cars Middle East.

Responsibilities

Public Relations Strategy

  • Strategic alignment with Mercedes-Benz HQ with regards to annual and long-term Public Relations strategy
  • Adaptation and translation of global Mercedes-Benz Public Relations objectives and programs into regional PR strategy
  • Strategic briefing and continuous alignment of General Distributors on Public Relations strategy

 Public Relations Operations

  • Signing responsible for management, project briefing quality control of the respective Public Relations agency
  • Being the main contact global Communications department at Daimler AG; communicating with colleagues and key spokespeople within the organization
  • Liaising with, and answering enquiries from media, individuals and other organizations
  • Developing the annual press release schedule and media communications plan in collaboration with HQ and respective Public Relations agency
  • Proof-reading of press releases and management of translations with external parties
  • Facilitate content and articles for in-house magazine, case studies, speeches and management reports in collaboration with internal and external parties
  • Continuously strive for high-quality media coverage in top tier media publications and channels to support the organization’s business and brand objectives
  • Signing responsible for management of external media monitoring agency; qualitative and quantitative control of quarterly and annual media coverage reports
  • Distribution of global media stories to regional media outlets; preparation of local media content
  • Negotiation, planning and execution of high-quality photo & video shoots with regional media
  • Organizing events including press conferences, exhibitions, open days and media events
  • Managing the participation of regional media in annual international press test drive event (accompanying media on international trips required)
  • Managing the PR aspect of a potential crisis situation in alignment with Daimler AG
  • Maintaining and updating specific information on the MBCME press center
  • Managing the press fleet and maintaining accurate records and reports related to the press cars

 Miscellaneous

  • Support the marketing department in the planning and execution of holistic campaigns throughout the year

 Knowledge/Skill/Experience

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in Public Relations and/or Communications
  • Experience in working in an international capacity or organization
  • Comprehensive knowledge of regional media channels from print, radio, TV, digital & online
  • Strong project management experience and ability to prioritize and work on several projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent fluent English (written and verbal) is a Must, Arabic and/or German would be beneficial
